Pest Fishing Event Management

2 Bent Rods are the pest fishing event management experts, running events since 2008

Does your area have a tilapia infestation?

We can help you to reduce their numbers whilst also educating and engaging your community in a family friendly pest fishing competition whilst fulfilling your GBO (General Biosecurity Obligations)
Our evidence based data shows a sustained attack on a waterbody does have an impact.

We take a wholistic approach to our events. It’s not all about catching tilapia, there's other aquatic animals and fauna to be mindful of as well.
2 Bent Rods works with local wildlife groups, clubs, businesses and the community and with all relevant stake holders to make the
day a great success for all involved.

Our experience:
We have been facilitating pest fishing education activities with various councils in South East Qld since 2008.
We have a current Biosecurity Queensland permit to run pest fishing events and education days.

Testimonials:
Samantha Beckmann and 2 Bent Rods has run two successful events for me over the last twelve months and I’ve been exceptionally pleased with the level of service. Sam has been able to arrange everything required to run the event, leaving me free to work on other aspects of my portfolio. I would highly recommend engaging 2 bent rods if you are wanting to run a successful and hassle free event

2 Bent Rods have partnered with Lendlease to deliver three pest fishing events at Spring Lake, Springfield Lakes in 2018 and 2019. As event manager they worked with a diverse range of stakeholders including local government to coordinate and plan the event as well as providing the required risk assessment documentation. 2 Bent Rods also worked with a local fish stocking organisation to restock native fingerlings in the lake post event, with funds raised from event ticket, barbecue and bait sales. The three events were successfully delivered and well attended, providing important community education around pest fish species’ impact on local biodiversity. Lendlease would have no hesitation in recommending 2 Bent Rods to other organisations looking to host a similar event.

- Lendlease

Throughout my role as the manager of the Aquatic Invasives Program at Biosecurity Queensland, I was consistently involved with Sam and the team at 2 Bent Rods, attending many of their pest fishing competitions held across Queensland between 2017-2019. 2 Bent Rods are a professional company, with a high level of local knowledge on recreational fishing and invasive species management issues. They continue to hold successful educational, community-minded, family friendly events. Their success is evidenced by their passion in bringing awareness to the community on understanding their general biosecurity obligations and recreational fishing rules and regulations. I highly recommend working with 2 Bent Rods if you are looking for a no fuss, educational, fun way to promote local education on fisheries and biosecurity issues.
