Bream (Acanthopagrus australis) Yellowfin or Silver Tail Bream are most common along the east coast of Australia and one of Queensland's most popular estuarine fish.
They are a predator as well as a ferocious scavenger and will put up a good fight for their size.
Bait: Bream will eat nearly anything but the best baits to use are yabbies, prawns, worms and flesh baits.
Legal size: 23cm minimum in Queensland.
How to Handle: Bream have solid pectoral and anal fins which are very sharp and can penetrate your hand when handled loosely.
The best rig: Use a very small sinker with about 30cm of trace, #4 or #6 long shank, chemically sharpened hook.
